Reading of Vogel's plays and combination of literary analysis with historical background and critical theory to discover Vogel's plays' significance on their own terms. Students become versed in plays of Paula Vogel and in her influences, develop powers of creative-critical description in speech and writing through group discussion and response papers, and develop vocabulary for discussing choices playwright makes on page.
