I love Pam! She's a great professor teaching a great subject. If you ever doubted the power of teachers, take her and she'll change your mind. She plans fun activities and class and she is the most understanding professor I have ever met. Every professor should take lessons from her on how to teach. There are tons of assignments, but none too hard to handle. She doesn't give grades per se, but rather she stick to checks and check plusses (+). Stay on top of your work and you're guaranteed a good grade and a fantastic time in her class!!

Pam is fantastic!! I have never had a professor like her at UCLA!! She was a preschool teacher for 15 years and that has influenced her largely as a professor. She is caring, fun and wonderful overall!! Every student at UCLA should take this professor even if just for kicks. Although there are a lot of assignments, I'm happy to do them because they are interesting and fun. She trusts you with your grade and she wants to make sure that you succeed in her classes while learning stuff about education. I had heard that she was easy, but never did I imagine she would be this great! I'm a fan of Pam's!

Professor Bailis is an awesome professor! even though her class was "easy" i really felt that I learned a lot from her. There is quite a bit of a work load: weekly reflection papers, group work, and a 10pg final group paper but she is very helpful throughout the class. She allows rewrites and always welcomes questions. A class with Bailis a must take if your an ed minor! She is inspiring, gives great insight, and is extremely caring about her students.

Easy. you can turn stuff in whenever you want. serious. There is a lot of assignments but they each can be knocked in about 10 minutes or less. There was a group project and a 2 page "Book Commentary". Easy stuff. Education minor is the best.

Pam Bailis is a great person and she's passionate about what she does. Although she was absent for about 4 lectures, since she had jury duty, she was an effective teacher that got her point across. When taking her class make sure you take it for the right reasons, although it's easy As. Honestly I took this course because it was a requirement from Bruincorps in order to receive my educational award, but the class wasn't relevant to me because this is an America Reads class and I was working with pre-k students who couldn't read yet. As a result of that I learned techniques that weren't entirely useful to my situation. Nontheless it's an easy class, but a lot of work. If you don't need to take this class, and if you don't need that extra work load, I suggest you not take the class. Also she never changes the textbook requirements for this class, so when you buy your book you only have to buy one, not both, however I suggest you buy the Help America Read book since it's thinner and a lot less reading to do. Other then that it's an enjoyable class, just make sure you get along with your peer mentors because ultimately they'll be the ones who determine your grade in the class, since they consult with Pam about your progress in the class.

A lot of busywork for the first part of the class, we had several assignments due each class meeting, but they were pretty easy. If you do them wrong you get a chance to re-do it and turn it back in for full credit, so its pretty hard to do badly. She's really nice and approachable, wants you to get into the mindset of early childhood education and runs the class like that sometimes.

Pam is a nice person which makes it hard to write a bad review. I didn't really learn a whole lot in her class. We learned a little about what it's like being a teacher inside LAUSD, but what about those who want to teach elsewhere? What about all the other jobs in the school district. She could have done a little less self-reflection and stuck to the main points of the class. The work all seemed to be at the high school level and I enjoy being a little more challenged than that.

She's a great teacher. She's passionate about what she teaches and about her students, the work is reasonable and not difficult, and she's approachable. I would recommend her for whatever class.

Bailis may be the best teacher i have taken here at UCLA. she invests in you as a student and the topics that are learned in her classes are peripheral to what your relearn about yourself. Bailis does not care about the grades that she submits to Murphy Hall and she makes this clear from the beginning. her classes are a breath of fresh air. i was reminded that i am a student who enjoys going to class and enjoys school. independent tutoring was a nice break from college students. its amazing what can be accomplished when your letter grade is not a concern. these force you to realize that other professors just dont get it.

Pam is truly inspirational. She is so enthusiastic and wonderful and I loved the way she structured all of her classes. If you want to be a teacher, definitely take one of her classes to see what a real teacher is all about. Pam is concerned about her students learning and she is devoted to passing on the vast amounts of information to everyone she meets. As long as you do the work that she requires, you'll do fine in the class. Remember, complete not compulsive! Also, if you take ED 193C (America Reads) class, be a TA for her! You'll love it!
Bottom line: Pam Bailis is the best education professor UCLA has to offer.
