Course(s) Taken: English Composition: 100W
I had Prof. Steinberg for Eng comp3 and 100w. I had him my very first quarter here at UCLA and I am graduating in a couple of days, and I must say that he's been more than a professor to me throughout my years at UCLA. If you are not shy and seek for his guidance, he will give it to you. and he will make you think in ways you never thought you could. He is an excellent mentor. excellent professor.

EASIEST ENGLISH COMP PROFESSOR EVER!
Seriously, you have 3 essays (all rewritable) and close to 10 (there are 20 class meetings) homework assignments that are somewhat long and tedious but simple and easy.
TAKE HIM, EASIEST ENGLISH A EVER!

The best professor I've had at UCLA so far. Seriously, if you have the chance, TAKE HIM! He is an amazing, engaging, thoughtful person, not just a professor. He will get you thinking about things you never considered before, and he will give you great ways to tweak your writing style, as well as give you several things relevant to your life.
And yes, he is an incredibly easy professor. The workload I felt was a little much sometimes, as we had only a week to write our essays, but there were only 4 pages. Overall, just go into the class with an open mind. Professor Steinberg is a wonderful guy and if you put any sort of effort into the class you will leave satisfied (and with an A).

A great professor who will engage you everyday in class and keep all of the topics relevant to your life. You get an assignment each night of class (2 a week) but as long as you do the reading and try on your homework you will pass the class fine. You can either try to skimp by and barely pass or really enjoy the class, get a lot out of the material, and pass with a great grade. When it comes down to it, you cannot go wrong taking this professor, one of the best ever hired by UCLA.

Professor Steinberg if the best. He makes class interesting by bringing in current issues that tie in to the readings, which are also GREAT. He encourages communication amongst classmates which in the end is very helpful. And although sometimes the work he assigns can seem very time consuming, your final grade will prove to be worth all the time and effort you put into his class. He is always willing to help, and is just a great professor overall.

I like Professor Steinberg, he's passionate, intelligent, organized, helpful and very concerned with student success. Lots and lots of work in his class, but all in all, it helped me to become a better writer. I recommend students take 100W ASAP, esp w/ Steinberg. My writing has improved 3x and my overall grades have improved a whole letter grade because all this man has taught me.

Steinberg is so far the best Eng Comp professor I had. He's great during class discussions and really cares about his students. He really likes reading and encourages the whole class to read different books and articles he recommends, which are optional. However, we do have to read a book and write up summaries and opinion pieces about the articles he assigns. 4 Essays are required for the class. 1st essay is about shopping behaviors (3-5 pages). 2nd formal essay (4-5 pages). 3rd interview (no length requirement), which was fun and easy. 4th research paper (10 Pages). His grading system is also awesome, he points out your mistakes without correcting it himself so you have to correct it and learn your errors, which was great for teaching you how to write. He's highly recommended, very easy, and fun class to be in. By the way, I suck in writing and his class and this class was my first A in an English comp class at UCLA.

This was my final class of UCLA and one of the best. Prof Steinberg conducts a very intellectual debate on just about every topic surrounding popular culture and current events. If you are an introvert, please stay away from the class because you will damage the atmosphere. If, however, you like to contribute to class discussions, you have to take this class. I graduated with a 4.0 and have done the work for all my classes. Believe me when I tell that this class is a lot of work. It's mainly busy work, but it is still a large time commitment. The 4 essay prompts are so open ended that you can do anything with them. Steinberg is a fabulous professor. And, as you can see, the grading curve isn't too bad either.
