Prof. Steinberg is the best teacher i had so far at UCLA. He is always willing and ready to help his students in whatever way possible. He also makes youfeel like a person. He actually remembers which students wrote what in their essays. With this in mind, he is able to give you great ideas for future essays. When I have to take any other english classes I will definitely look for Steinberg as a professor.

Professor Steinberg is a very good professor overall-lectures/discussions, work-load, material, and grading. You learn a lot from this class in particular because a lot of material is covered and he is willing to learn from students, not just him lecturing on what he thinks you should think. I would recommend him to any student who has any interest in learning not only English composition, but about many issues America faces today.

Professor Steinberg is by far the best professor I had. He is so easy to talk to and is always welling to help you with whatever you need. The readings are keep to a minumim, and you turn in Hw assignments when you finish.. There is no due date... The structure of the class is very simple. First, journals, then he talks and talks about books, next it's just all essay. The good part is if you finish early.. you can even leave early... I remember the shortest class we had was only one hour... My recommendation, if your looking for a good professor, this is the one!

Professor Steinberg is by far the nicest professor I have ever had. He respects students as his equal and makes you feel comfortable about approaching him. He makes you confidant about your writing and inspires you to write. He is an extremely fair grader. The topics you write about are really interesting. In lecture, he brings up current event issues and makes you aware of what's going on in the world outside of the UCLA "bubble" we're all in. I am looking forward to taking other English classes with him.

This is my first english class taken at UCLA and I couldn't have been any happier. I despised english before his class. Professor Steinberg is THE nicest professor. He made writing almost enjoyable and the quarter went by super fast. He is always giving you compliments about your writing and only assigned 3 4-6 page essays (compared with 10 pages assigned by some other english 3 professors). In class we discussed issues of America. There was minimal reading involved and twice a week you'd turn in a short response to the reading. I think that he is a lenient grader if you show him that you made an effort on the papers. Class discussions are pretty layed back and rather interesting. Trust me....TAKE HIM.

Dr. Steinberg is a model professor, and by that I mean he is what a professor should be. He is highly interested in what students think about their world, and respects their opinions. He inspires his students to become active leaders for social change! His classes cover contemporary and relevant issues, which lead to eye-opening discussions. He appreciates student feedback and will often alter assignments accordingly. I would strongly recommend Dr. Steinberg to students who are looking for an unconventional and thought provoking approach to learning.

Professor Steinberg is an excellent professor- what him makes great is that he's so anxious to learn. Everyday he comes to class with some new books and reading that he thinks might uplift our awareness. And they do. I learned so much from this class-not just about English and Critical Thinking- but about life- and I think that's what makes an excellent professor. Take him- you wont regret it!

Dr. Steinberg is an excellent professor... his themes are very interesting and the amount of reading is just right. assignments are short and with easy topics. also, he allows you to re-write or correct your papers as many times as you like until you get the desired grade!!!! he is a well-rounded individual with a great sense of humor. in addition, he is compassionate about contemporary issues in America (education, race/ethnicity, social mobility, advertising, gender, etc.). this class was actually fun to attend...he draws upon important social questions and controvercies and allows his students to express their opinion.
