I feel like Sant gets a lot of hate in these reviews. I really didn't think he was that bad. Don't get me wrong, he could definitely do better explaining topics, but in general the class is very fair. He explained things better at the start of the year and then kinda got bored in the second half of the year and slacked off. We didn't even hear from him the last two weeks lol. HW is pretty short every week. Lecture problems and HW problems are just like what you'll see on the test so definitely study those and make sure you understand them. I also asked my TA for more practice problems to do and used those to prepare for the tests and got 100% on the first one and 88% on the second. I feel like most people just don't prepare that much. If you understand the base concepts you'll do fine. Don't overthink this one, with Sant at the very least you'll know exactly what you're getting.

As long as you take the time to learn the material every week, you should be fine. I personally did not do that, as I would wait until the last second to do everything. If you have the skills to get through 1A, you should be alright. Problems can get a bit messy, and grading scale is very unforgiving if you show up for a test unprepared. Overall, not something to be scared of, but class will require a good amount of time

My stance on this class is pretty neutral, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't super enjoyable for me either. Keep in mind I wasn't very interested in concrete to begin with, but you do learn a lot in the class. The lectures were packed with information and details that we were expected to know for exams (a midterm and a final). I found it difficult to take notes during live sessions due to how fast Professor Sant speaks, however, he does post all of his slides.

I feel like this class could be pretty tough if it were in person given the exams count for 75% of your grade. We also usually don't have the ability to look back on recordings of lectures which was super helpful for information that wasn't stated on the slides.

IMO, he was not a good professor who cared about the students. He was very snappy and had the TA lecture the course on multiple occasions. He apparently had to travel to Asia about three weeks before the class was over. He simply had his TA lecture the course, whom had no idea what she was doing. I would avoid him if at all possible for 101. He has good credentials, but I would not suggest him for 101.
