Simply the best professor I've ever had...he'll work you though. The quizzes are pretty difficult but he's such an adorable little guy that it's hard to hold it against him.

Graduate Neuroanatomy with Dr. Scheibel is what I have been waiting for my entire academic career. He is my idol, period.

Dr. Scheibel is the best professor I have ever had (and this is my seventh year of college, so that's saying a lot). He knows everything there is to know about neuroanatomy, and he cares a great deal about student learning. His lectures are always entertaining, packed with important information and interesting side comments. No matter what obscure brain structure he is talking about, it is always "the most fascinating part of the brain", and you can't help but be carried along by his enthusiasm. As others have noted, his courses are extremely difficult. But if you work hard, you can learn more from Dr. Scheibel than you would have ever thought possible.

Wow, this is guy is really amazing. In one quarter he taught me more than other teachers can hope to teach in 10 years about the brain. That's because he spent his whole life working in the field and he knows it like the back of his hand.
His tests are hard but fair, and he does not grade on a curve so it becomes even harder. But without that challenge, learning becomes dull. Even if you are not a Neurosci major, I would highly recommend taking his class, you won't regret it!

Dr. Scheibel is by far the best professor i've ever taken. He made a most boring subject the most interesting. His voice and humor make you forget about time. He knows about the nervous system more than anybody i've known. His jokes are hilarious and he always included relevant cases in his lectures that help you learn so much better. He's a super cool professor. Boy, am I glad i have him...

Funny, kind, packed with knowledge. THE best neuro prof at UCLA. Overwhelming amount of material, though.

He is by far the best lecturer that I've encountered in UCLA. Neuroanatomy would be really painful if taught by another. If your not a neuro major but are really interested in the brain then you should take this class. If your a third yr neuro this class will tell you why your a neuro major if your not concerned with the grade and just in it for the sake of learning. But if your are, take it your 4th year.

yes!!! i can't rate dr. scheibel highly enough! his courses - like ALL the neuroscience courses here at UCLA - go from "difficult" to "overwhelming" the first week that you fall behind - so don't! BUT - if you've never taken dr. scheibel before and you are at ALL interested in the brain - there "might" be a dozen other people IN THE WORLD with dr. scheibel's incredible knowledge of neuroanatomy. so, by all means, check out this living legend while you've got the chance. also - despite the 'gravitas' of his stature, he's a hell of a friendly, funny, caring guy - so go to his office hours. he's one in a million.
