Davies is a great professor. Unfortunately, he will not longer be teaching at UCLA as he will be returning to Canada.

Professor Davies is the best psych professor I've ever had. Most of my previous psych professors have taken very interesting material and managed to make it dull. Davies makes the lectures so interesting, everyone I've talked to look forward to his lecture every week. I'm sad that its thanksgiving weekend and there won't be a lecture this week! Yes, that is how engaging, funny, and totally informative and interesting his lectures are. You don't realize as you're taking notes that not only are you fully enjoying yourself, you are learning! He takes the subject and makes it relate to his students, relating it to current events in the world, social phenomenon, and even events on the UCLA campus. His discussions make you think and wonder, laugh out loud and cry at the sometimes preposterous behavior of human beings. If you do not take Professor Davies, you are missing out on the UCLA experience. This is exactly what I came here for.

This class was one of the most engaging classes I've taken at UCLA. Prof. Davies really makes this class fun. You have to study for this class. The only way you will do well in this class is if you read the book and know the stuff from the lectures. The class wasn't curved. The mean for the midterm (there was only 1) was like 50/58 but it doesn't really matter since there's no curve. Like other people have said, the class itself is fun but you still need to do the work.

Yes he is engaging and funny. However, don't be fooled by this! His exams are very very tricky. He does offer you extra credit through experimetrix. I'm not as happy with the class as I would have hoped I would be. You really have to know the text book. You really do have to study.

Professor Davies is an amazing lecturer. His presence is overwhelming (in a good way) and his humor is dry and witty. I agree with all of the good comments people have made about him. He's also very receptive and warm when you go to his office hours and he'll answer any questions you may have among other things. As for the exams, I felt that the midterm and final were about the same level of difficulty. I didn't feel that the final was a lot more difficult than the midterm and I actually did better & this is without studying as much either. I felt that his exams were very straightforward and the average for both exams was about a B. Yes, you have to read the book because he will throw in random things like "Sleeper effect," which aren't in his notes. Do the extra credit, without it I would have received a B+ but instead I got an A-. Also, participate in discussions, the TA's are recording points everytime you say something and they will not give you points if you don't say anything and just show up. You HAVE to contribute to discussion to earn all the potential points as well as submitting quality questions.

don't be fooled when the davies says there are only a few questions from the book... you HAVE to read it to get an A.... the extra credit will help you a lot because the final was pretty tricky...

i absolutely loved professor davies and this class. i think it was the combindation of professor davies great personality and the interesting material that made it so great. i looked forward to going to class and was actually sad to see it end, the only time that has happened to me. it's not THAT easy of an A though, you will have to read and know the material well for the exams. but seriously, take this class!!

Professor Davies class is very enjoyable and interesting. I actually looked forward to going to his class and had a good feeling after leaving. I looked forward to studying the material and for his exams. The midterm is pretty straight forward but the final is pretty tricky. I feel like his final did not test the material well. I had an A up until the final and then even after studying my ass off didnt do so hot on the final. Take the class, you will learn a lot.. but dont be dissapointed if you dont get the grade you feel you deserve. do the extra credit.

Professor Davies is for sure the best teacher I have had so far at UCLA. He is very dedicated and caring about the well-being of his students. He is very helpful in office hours and will dedicate all the time necessary to help you through the material. His exams are fair and cover a lot of material, but it is not that bad. He is a funny guy and really makes this class enjoyable. I looked foward to attending his class every week. I wish he was teaching more classes. Highly recommend him, he is a great professor!
