Klinger is an awful professor. He's senile and rambles on and on forever. Basically, avoid him at all cost, it won't be an easy A.

He means well but he contradicts himself all the time. It is difficult to understand what he really wants in his assignments. He rarely gives a straight answer and he wants things done a specific way but you don't know what that is. One of the weirdest classes that I've taken. It's not that it's hard cause really there's not much work but you don't know what you're supposed to be doing.

The course was a little too open ended for me. It was basically, find papers and present them, very few if any lectures and I didn't learn that much myself. If you want to do research in Patterns take the class, if you want someone to teach you patterns, look elsewhere.

When I took CS190 with him, he made it sound like we could do anything we want. But after we got our mid-reviews, he started hammering us with bad grades. Luckily, I was a grad student, so I dropped his course some time during dead week. However, I feel sorry for all the undergrads who has to bare with all his lectures and bad grades. But he does enjoy it a lot when you teach him how to use Powerpoint.
