All Ratings and Reviews for David Jackson
not an easy a. had annoying pop quizzes...i'm normally a a/a- student and in hard sci classes too but the prospect of continuously studying was tiresome and to me not worth it...i got a B+ but note with very little effort..i was uninterested in the material and too stubborn to do the work..if you enjoy the subject matter dive into the material otherwise not worth it..
but he was nice person though. gave us ice cream at the end of the quarter and field trip that involved the beach/palisades which was cool
i guess the b+ was my own fault
he was the worst prof. that i have ever taken. he changed the grading requirements almost every time that we met for the seminar. in the begining of the course i asked him if the class of 15 would be graded on a curve because that would really be bad for people when someone has to get a d. well he said no and then at the end of the quarter he curved the class and everyone got bad grades. he must have forgotten that he told the class that. (yeah right) what ever you do, do not take any seminars with him. he is borring and your gpa will suffer in the end!
I got an A on the Midterm adn Final, and A on all the homework and labs, and got a B in the class. I don't understand how some people get tenured.
I had Professor Jackson for the GE70 class. He's so dedicated to his students and his field of study, which is exemplified in all that he does. He's a VERY smart man and just talking to him will leave you so impressed! What I like most about him is that he doesn't follow the standard curriculm, but will come up with other creative ideas to teach us and get us really involved. The reason why I think Professor Jackson is not as difficult as some professors is because he is so willing to help you out, that everything will be made easier. Basically, i definitely recommend Professor Jackson!
I had Professor Jackson in GE70, and was so impressed by how dedicated and caring he is. When a couple classmates and I asked a few of the professors to have lunch with us one day, Dave Jackson readily agreed, and since then held his office hours in the Bombshelter. How many professors will have lunch with their students?! And while it's sometimes hard to understand the concepts he discusses in lecture, if you ask him in office hours he makes it very clear. He's definitely more comfortable doing one-on-one teaching. And he wore a Santa hat during our Fall final!! He's really a cool professor.
he really tries. he's won't have you laughing outloud, and sometimes can be very boring. but he really cares about the students, and loves his field. he's very personable, and tries to make the subject matter more engaging, but that's really not his style. he grades fairly easily, and gives you all the information you need to get an a. the only problem is that you have to stay awake.
Prof. Jackson is a really nice guy and probably the most accessible instructor i've had this year. His lectures are a little disorganized, but it also feels more personal that way; you really do get the feeling that he is excited about the material he presents. He is very approachable and all around a great professor.
he was amazing! not only was he really friendly and helpful, but the class was incredibly easy...go to lecture most of the time (if he knows ur in class he likes you more and is more willing to answer questions) and mainly read the book. the ta tells you whats on the midterm and final!
This professor is not only a great teacher but a person who is genuinely concerned about his students. The entire time I was at UCLA, the two times I went outside the classroom (i.e. a field trip) were in his class. He was also very interested in our notions of how science would be more efficiently taught which to my mind demonstrates a passion for not only science but teaching. He was also very approachable and friendly unlike most professors. My personal opinions aside, these facts should give you some idea that this is a great professor and a decent person as well. As for the workload: The tests, homework, and essay were not too hard.
