The Midterm and final wasn't that bad if you go over his past exams (he will give it out) and understand all the fine point in the homework problems. The entire course is base on his class notes which is generally not enought unless you are already familiar with the materials he is make sure u get some reference books, do your should be cool!

He prints out handouts for every lecture which is a good thing. Uses his computer tablet for lectures and ocassionally tends to mumble cos hes looking down at his own screen instead of facing the class. mid terms are very easy just like the sample exams but finals are super hard. no sample exam can prepare you for that! plus finals is 65%. But he has a very strong knowledge of the subject.

There are lecture notes, a course reader, and a textbook for this class. We were supposed to read them all, but I got through all the homework and tests with just the lecture notes from class. The earlier homeworks were ridiculously easy, but they got much harder, sometimes just because you didn't really know what kind of answer he wanted. He had to spend time in class every week to clarify the homework. By the end of the quarter, the TA had to show us how to do every single homework problem.

The midterm was very easy and was very similar to the practice tests he gave out. The final, however, was very long and had a lot problems we'd never seen before...and it was not like the practice finals. The grading was generous though. I only knew how to do less than 1/2 of the test and still managed to get an 80 on the final somehow.

All in all, this guy made EE2 just as hard as a lot of upper division classes I've taken. However, I know I learned more than other people I know who took it with other professors...and that really helps in later courses like 121B.

this guy knows his stuff. after interning, i know realize everything he says in lecture is pertinent. he applies what we learn to real life very veery nicely. he is the man of semiconductors and band theory. yes he is hard but you will learn so much if you're not one of those people who forget things after the quarter ends. he is the greatest professor to have if u wanna learn about semiconductors or opto. A++ prof!!!

This guy is terrible. The lowest grade I've ever gotten was in his EE2 class. I went to every lecture and discussion and did all the homeworks and I still got jacked. His homeworks and midterm are ridiculously easy and don't teach you the material. His lectures are just flashing a bunch of slides without much explanation. Normally it wouldn't matter but his final is frickin hard and it's worth 65% of your grade. So basically he just screws you over at the end. Also, 5% of your grade is participation. Dude, this isn't high school. Avoid now or regret it later.
