All Ratings and Reviews for Keith Kaiser
Ok, you know he's an easy prof. He gives out the midterm and final questions before both tests and answers any question you might have on them. I didn't get an A in this class however because I got too lazy because it was THAT easy. You don't HAVE to go to lecture, but you should, for the tests. Sometimes he goes over the same topic for like 2 weeks, but thats a hint right there that that's going to be on a test so you should write down what he says. If you don't go to lecture and you don't know the answers for the questions for the midterm or final, go to his or his ta's office hours and they will TELL YOU THE ANSWER!
But if you're too lazy like me to do any of those things, you can still easily pull off a B, at the least.
Great professor!!! Made philosophy very fun and interesting. As a senior, I had never had a philosophy class so I didn't know what to expect. What the other reviewers said is so true!! He has a great sense of humor and his explainations are very clear.
Its not that his class is overly easy, its fair. There's a huge difference. You have to go to lecture every day. That's a must!! But if you go to lecture, study the notes for the exam, and know the material, you will get a good grade and you will come out feeling you learned something interesting.
very highly recommended!!!!!!!!!
He is God, and so is Normore! What could I say that hasn't already been said. I've taken three class with this professor, and I was also fortunate enough to take him for a 199 in which I just learned volumes of material. This man is a prize at UCLA and if you don't take his class, you are the one who is missing out.
i wasn't too sure about this class when i first signed up. after taking it i realized how great of a teacher keith really is. for a philosophy class he made the material very easy to understand and gave simple explanations in lecture. he has a great sense of humor and made the class very enjoyable. he even gave a break in the middle of class!! high recommended.
Professor Kaiser is EXTREMELY cool! I loved going to his class. He's easy going and laid back, and he explains everything in a really detailed manner. He prepared us well for the midterm and final, and didn't throw in any punches. I totally recommend this professor, if not for his teaching ability at least for his lecture style and jokes. On a scale of 1 to 10, this professor is awesome!
THIS GUY IS FANTASTIC!! Take his class. I can't say enough about this guy... I have had four years at this school and this is the first professor I've had that actually cares about students...
Not to mention the fact that you are immersed in interesting and complex topics. Do yourself a favor and enroll in one of the best classes you will have at UCLA!
The class moves at a snail's pace. We discussed the fact that you had better accept that P and ~P cannot both be the case...for about three weeks. Come on now! He is a clear lecturer though and you will -- or, really should grasp -- what he's putting out there. But there just isn't enough being put out there. I missed more than half the class, studied about 10 hours the whole quarter and got an A- in the course. But if you're confused, I'm complaining, not recommending the class. If you want to be pushed, get feedback on your writing, or have a professor assume that you're moderately intelligent (and teach accordingly), then don't take Kaiser.
Prof. Kaiser is one of the best professors I've ever had. He really cares about every single student. His class is fun and really easy. He chose a TA for the summer session C that was like himself, cool, easy and logical.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!!!!!!
Kaiser is a great professor, both literally and otherwise. He was really good at presenting both sides of the arguments for and against god without making it clear what side he agreed with. The gradings of the tests were a bit iffy, but he gives pretty fair grades in the end. Unfortunately, his jokes to open the class came off as painfully awkward. Best north campus class I've taken. Sincerely,
This guy is the best. Everyone should be able to take a humanities GE with him. If you EVER get the opportunity, do it!! He had to decline about 50 people from entering Phil 4 last quarter because there were already 300 or so people in the class and not enough TA's for 50 more.
Personally I liked his Intro to Religion (phil 2) class more than the Morals class (phil 4), but that's only my opinion (and only because we didn't really get into many of the cases he had planned in Phil 4.) Both were great though. For someone who had never taken any philosophy class in my life, he made the introduction to it very enjoyable for me.
