All Ratings and Reviews for Marek A Przystupa
I would have to say this is the best teacher in the department. He knows his stuff, is more than willing to help with ANY questions, even those not related to the course. He is straight forward with his lectures, homework and tests so their difficulty is offset somewhat. The biggest downside is that it will take you at least half a quarter to get used to his handwriting ( "s"'s look like "l"'s a lot, etc.) He also has a pretty funny sense of humor and will always sneak in little jokes a lot.
przystupa is a decent professor, his overheads and handwriting is a bit hard to get used to at first...but the class is cake and shouldn't be too hard if you read the book before/after lecture
He is awesome. One of the nicest prof in MSE department. Will regret if he don't take him.
Prof. Przystupa is the among the best professors i've had at ucla, and this is my 5th year here. I took mse 14 my 2nd year with him and although the class covered a lot of material in a short period of time, he taught it very well. unlike some professors out there, he doesn't want to prove how much more he knows than you, instead, he offers challenging, but fair exams that give you an opportunity to show how well you understand the material. I went on to take 143a which was even more interesting than 14. Again, he presented the material in a very clear way that made difficult concepts easy to understand. He's almost always around to help students, and always willing to answer questions. I highly recommend taking classes that he teaches.
He's a good guy and wants his students to learn the material. Several nice things about him include the fact that you get 50% of your homework points just by turning it in on time, he's a lenient grader, his sample tests are similar to his actual ones, and he's easy to talk to outside of class, especially during office hours right before an exam. The material was probably the most boring of all my classes, but keep in mind Material Science isn't my major (Aerospace).
Overall I would recommend him for a "chill class" where you can do crossword puzzles and homework for other classes (since he mostly goes over slides) and it's also a class that will not require a lot of studying for a B.
He is a very good professor. Whenever I went to office hours he was always willing to help and he was always concerned whether we understood the material clearly. He is great and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to take classes that he teaches.
He is a great professor. He is clear in his lectures. I had him for MSE 14. Too bad he had to teach this class though, it was really boring. He was concerned about the students learning, his lectures were extremely helpful, and always made himself available outside of class.
difficult to pay attention to... not a great teacher, but very fair and doesn't try to trick you on the exams
he lectures using transparencies and lots of handouts, so its easy to fall asleep in his class, granted the material isn't all that exciting either. but he would crack jokes sometimes and try to keep the class awake. at first i couldn't understand his accent, but you eventually get used to it. very willing to help during and outside office hours as long as you ask him. pretty laid back guy, overall a good professor.
