DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!! SHE IS EVIL !!!!!! She does not have any respect for her students, she thinks shes the best person on this planet, however she is so evil. The whole class was failing and instead of helping us she just made it harder and said its normal. She literally destroyed everyone GPA and would laugh about it and say "in Australia the students are so much better." I got very ill because of this class. What ever you do do not take her class. There is a reason there is no grade distribution its because everyone failed. She is the meanest person i have ever met don't get trapped, avoid her at all cost for your own well being.

AVOID HER AT ALL COST!!!!! She was HORRIBLE. She was worse than coronavirus. I took her final a few days the school decided to shut down and it was an extremely turbulent time but she refused to accommodate for the final. The material of the class was not that crazy but she made this class terrible. I was glad that her TAs were very helpful, or else I would fail this class.

Do not take this course with this professor if you are able to, I am a graduating senior so I had no other choice. I will say the prof is very versed and knowledgeable about the course material but that was about it.

The lectures were very difficult to understand and her slides were mainly pictures with barely any text so it was very difficult to study for. Also some exam questions were extremely tricky and tested us on stuff we never even learned in lecture and she probably did this to "make the curve".

She is very condescending as well and I went to her OH one time and she would barely try to explain to me the reasoning behind the answer to a test question. Clearly does not care about her students and our well-being and more concerned with her own things.

Also, grading was not transparent at all. She said she curved up the grades but would never say by how much and did so arbitrarily do that she could maintain the curve. And she said we would get extra points for filling out the course evaluations as stated in the syllabus but never addressed this so people do not know if the points were even added. She will try everything in her power to "maintain the curve" and that seemed to be the only thing she really cared about.

I never usually review professors but when it came to this professor, I know I had to warn other students. Do yourself a MASSIVE favor and DO NOT take this class/professor. Worst class I have ever taken in college. I am a straight A student and I found myself barely passing this class because of how she teaches & the way she structured this class. Her exams are tricky, questionable, and they do not, in my opinion, actually test your knowledge of the course material. I feel like I lost brain cells reading her questions. They were confusing and sometimes did not make sense at all. I was very interested in the course at first but Professor Sharpe made me hate this course and reevaluate pursuing Psychology as a whole.

This class is a regret that I'll remember for the rest of my academic endeavors. This "professor" is the reason that I will, from now on reference bruinwalk reviews. Seriously unprofessional, reusing slides from almost a year ago due to covid. The slides are from the notorious class of winter 2020 in which the reviews speak for themselves. From rants on twitter to bitter conversations that she believes won't see the light of day, this "professor" is actually unbelievable. The test material is not hard, it is the delivery and testing of the material that is. This class should be called reading comprehension 110 because unless you have a dozen tabs open and 100+ slides that are merged before each examination/quiz, you will not get the questions right. Sharpe believes that grade distributions=evidence of learning. The extra credit isn't optional, it's a necessity for the grade distribution and for many, a lifeline to pass. If you get covid and are sick, make sure the note states that "this student cannot participate in _______" because even if you're sick, the validity of the doctor's note will be questioned and you will be forced to get another. It's a shame that this experience is achievable at UCLA.

Bro the professors lectures suck and aren’t even related to what we are tested on. Everyone did poorly and constantly complained about the unfair tests we all failed. There’s no homework or practice questions either so its hard to prepare. Also, the quizzes are so short that they really dont help your final grade at all. :(((

STAY AWAY AND TAKE ANOTHER CLASS FOR YOUR CORE REQS. SUCH. AN. UNNECESSARILY. DIFFICULT. CLASS. I wish I read the reviews for this class before taking her. It's my first year here (I'm a transfer student) so I wasn't really familiar with BruinWalk, nor did I think such a prestigious university would hire such an unprofessional individual. She does offer a generous amount of extra credit, which is awesome... But damn, if it weren't for the insane amount of extra credit, my GPA would have been much more damaged than now. Honestly, it's the least she could do considering her unclear lectures and lack of consideration for her students. She is clearly well-versed in her field, like another review mentioned. But she does not seem to realize that the jargon she uses is brand new to most of us. Most people that take this class are familiar with the basic concepts of behaviorism/neurosciecnce/research psych that are incorporated into the material, but definitely not the vocabulary that is used specifically in this class. I don't know, maybe it would have been better in person. One good thing is that she gives you almost 2 whole days to complete an exam. What sucked is that no amount of studying was enough. Professor Sharpe, as bright as you are, you are a terrible teacher. You may be an excellent researcher, but sharing your knowledge to undergraduate students, some of whom are only pre-majors, is definitely not your strong suit. Either reevaluate your teaching skills, or the department should reevaluate employing you. As you'd love to sign off on your condescending emails: cheers!

Professor Sharpe is a confusing lecturer, and her slides have a lot of experiments that you have to know in detail. The tests were also confusing as well, but she seemed to want to be there for students and was willing to talk with people in office hours. Discussion sections were extra credit, and you could also do SONA studies for extra credit. So even though the tests were difficult, the extra credit really helps. The lectures were also asynchronous and I often found myself rewatching lectures to try to understand the material. Just make sure you're prepapred to put in quite a bit of effort for this class.

Where could I possibly start? This professor is by far the worst professor I have ever taken at UCLA. I was a senior therefore had no other option but to continue in this horrible class.

First off: She does NOT know how to teach, making her a horrible professor. But not only this, some professors may not be good at teaching but AT least are decent human beings. She is NOT. Sharpe was rude, condescending, and even caused a girl in class to have a mental breakdown.

Professor Sharpe made inappropriate remarks on American undergrads in her twitter about us caring too much about grades (She is Australian). Note to Professor Sharpe: Students care about their grades because we at UCLA have worked really damn hard to be here, and that was not done by NOT caring about our grades. Also, grad schools, employments, and medical schools require a good GPA. Our future is on the line.

Her exams were by far the hardest exams I have ever taken in my entire life. Her slides were all over the place, with literally no words just a picture of a rat cartoon and cheese. Thank GOD for TA’s they were the best and made this class a bit more doable.

During Covid-19: She literally emailed the entire class saying she will not be looking at her emails because she will take care of her baby all upset and mad since many students were nervous and emailing her due to a PANDEMIC. As if no one in her class had families or babies to attend to, right?

This class seriously affected my overall well-being, and I am a person that studies hard and is dedicated. Please do not take this class, however I really do hope she no longer teaches here. UCLA is a wonderful school filled with great professors she does not belong here. Professor Sharpe needs to be a better person before considering entering a classroom ever again.
