This class was a dumpster fire, made worse by the pretentiousness of the professor. The professor graded harshly because in her mind, we were making errors. In reality, however, it is her that made fundamental errors in the wording of questions and answer choices on the quizzes. Moreover, to add insult to injury, she graded the group projects harshly for lack of thoroughness when she made the decision to enforce a page limit. It is also ironic that she nitpicked so much in her judgement of the group projects when her lack of competency in writing the weekly quizzes was embarrassing.

I took this class because it satisfied a GE requirement and I was interested in economics. The previous batch of reviews portrayed this class as an easy GE with good content, my experience was far from this picture.

Pros:
- The lectures were interesting and insightful. Professor knows the content well, however, the pace of the lectures is too fast for students with no economics background. We jumped into supply-demand diagrams with tariffs and whatnot without much context or explanation.
- Some topics such as climate change, inequality and immigration helped gauge an understanding of how economics is intertwined with so many global issues

Cons:
- Professor was not very clear or helpful in her email responses whenever I had doubts about the quiz or a project.
- Quizzes were HARD. Watching all the lectures, attending discussions, and reading slides were still not enough to answer some curveball questions on the quizzes.
- The group project spec had very little detail. We were left to interpret the prompt and the guiding questions on our own.

If you have taken economic courses, this could be a relatively easy class for you and a bit interesting at the same time. However, if you have no background in economics and are looking for an easy GE, this class will not be the best experience for you.

I had a little bit of Econ experience, but I was able to use lecture slides during quizzes and you should get at least 90% average if you do it diligently. There were some mistakes on them, but she gave out points no matter what answer you put. For the group project, it does matter if you get a good group because you probably don't want to worry about looking over all 10 pages of an essay. It was an easy A for everyone I knew in the class and anyone I've asked before.

I would not recommend this class as a GE to anyone who doesn't have some background in economics (AP Micro/Macroeconomics or similar college-level course). To those who have experience with economics, the content is not difficult. Yet, the quizzes are poorly designed at times. I was fortunate to have been apart of a great group for the group project but also was not a fan of a GROUP project being 35% of an INDIVIDUAL's grade. The final was very fair and well designed. Overall, only take this class if you have experience with some economics, would enjoy it as a GE, and the "group project" part of this class gets a redesign.

This GE was much more work than I thought going in and it was much harder than I anticipated too. The quizzes were on the harder side, and some questions were purposefully tricky. Professors slides help a lot though, even if the content felt too dense for a quarter. If you want condensed study guides used to help me get As on all quizzes as well as a final study guide for cheap, email *************

I loved this class, a great option for a GE. The lectures are pre reordered and uploaded, the tests were very straightforward and the workload was low. I especially enjoyed the class because all of the topics were super relevant to anyone, she covered taxes, discrimination issues, investing, money, etc. You also definitely don't have to be an economics major to take this class.
