Abramson is easy to mock as an example of a self-serving, impersonal professor when 400 people take his class every quarter because he's so accomplished in the field of, well, sex. Truth be told, the class was very interesting, not especially difficult, impersonal, but worth going to regularly. Lecture notes were of no help to me; the note-taker was one of the 400 and she sat in the back of the room every lecture. Maybe they'd be helpful if the TA (Mark, quite a knowledgable fellow) took them.

Lectures are organized but somehow vague, you really have to listen to what he says i.e. statistics, main points, etc. and jot it down. we had 2 midterms covering mostly lecture and extensively on the books on the last test. the question are a bit tricky. i read and studied pretty well for both tests but was surprised to find out that i didnt do as well as i expected. the topics are pretty interesting but i think he could have gone more in depth for some. the books were pretty interesting and one of them covers what he lectures really well. a few of his lectures are yawn yawn but others were really good. prepare yourself for a little variety.
you'll do fine as long as you read and review the books as well as the lectures.

Good class, interesting readings and lectures. The tests are rather tricky and it's hard to do well. If you are good at standardized tests, take it.

I actually found this class to be really interesting. A lot of people think it will be so easy that they stop going to lecture, but I found the lectures to be worth attending. He does talk about his accomplishments a lot, but I think he does that to show that he's not just pulling ideas out of thin air, he actually has training and has performed extensive research in the field. The tests are fair, come straight out of lecture, and can pretty much be mastered by studying the lecture notes. I also thought that the books were very interesting; sorry, maybe I'm in the minority around here :)

This class was interesting. The topics discussed were interesting. There are three books that are written by the actual professor that are easy to ready and very interseting subject material. His tests are tricky in the wording it uses so I totally recommend you to get the lecture notes because it helps out a lot. He allows questions throughout his lecture so he is easy to talk to. I recommend the class just be ready for his exams.

MAKE SURE YOU BUY LECTURE NOTES!!! they are very detailed and they have a lot of information that you probably didnt even think about writing down. If you get the lecture notes and study them thoroughly and occassionally show up to class for the movies... you will definitly get a B, he is a cool teacher and the class is definitly interesting...
