Fong is really nice in person, she'll try and explain things to her fullest in lecture. The class itself gets better once you reach animal behavior. My biggest advice to you is, GET A GOOD TA. 40 percent of your grade is the discussion. If your TA is a prick on grading,it might cost you. Other than that, beware of time on the midterm, and memorize the notes. You should be fine.

Dr. Fong is a remarkable person if you get to know her outside of class. She's very approachable and is always willing to take time out to talk to you if you have questions and make the time to go and see her. Her lectures are for the most part pretty straight forward. The class can be somewhat difficult but if you put in some time, you can undoubtedly do well.

You know a professor is good when the class is hard but you still enjoy it. You CANNOT take Marine Botany with another professor\326 or you\355ll just miss out on a wonderful experience. I recommend this class for people who want to know their professors and TAs outside of the classroom. Professor Fong\355s (and her TA\355s) passion for algae is so contagious. She\355s cool; her TAs are cool; and her family (which she brought along on the field trips) is cool!

Don\355t take this class if you have a busy schedule.

peggy is the best...simple as that! She has so much passion for what she teaches, it really is contagious. her class is somewhat hard (i took obee 101A marine botany), but if you like the subject matter (which i guarantee you will if you take the class w/peggy) then you won't mind putting in the extra effort. the field trips are the and educational. but peggy goes beyond being a great teacher, i've done a 190 w/her and she's just an amazing individual. she has gone out of her way to help me with questions and problems. she's incredibly approachable and always smiling. if you do take her class, i recommend getting to know her on a personal level...she's a wonderful person and i'm lucky to have crossed paths with her.

Professor Fong is a terrible lecturer. I have never been so bored in a class... out of all of my years at UCLA, any class could top hers. Tests were ambiguous. Moreover, her attitude was worse than her lectures. She's unapproachable and rude. I am ashamed to go to UCLA when I get teachers like Peggy Fong. No one should be allowed to teach at a top university with her kind of attitude and no teaching skills whatsoever.

Peggy is one of the best professors I have ever had. She really cares that her students learn, and she cares about her students as people. She is very approachable and is always willing to help. It's a 6 unit class so be prepared to do 6 units worth of work. But she definitely is one of the best people you will ever run into in life.

Dr. Fong is incredibly cool. She puts exactly what she says on her tests and no memorisation. She is very interested in giving the "whole picture" rather than some b.s. factoid which you'll forget anyway.

Peggy Fong has such a passion for biology that she makes everything interesting! I would recommend taking Ecology (obee 122) with her. And go on the field trips!

Ok this is fucking hilarious. The bio teachers at UCLA don't know how to fucking teach/lecture. Fong happens to be one of these dumbasses. Her lectures are like fucking kindergarden class lectures where you learn the easiest things. But her tests are made up by these stupid TA's who just pull shit out of their asses. The questions on the test are like pick the best answer A, B, C, D, All of the above, or two of the above. The second half of the course is better where Grether is doing the lectures and me makes up the exams himself. He doesn't let the T.A.s touch anything.

I had Prof. Fong for EEB 101 and even though I was intimidated by the syllabus, I stuck it out and found it to be one of the most tough yet rewarding classes I have taken at UCLA. Prof. Fong is one of the most nicest, down to earth professors i have ever had. When we went on our field trips, she was more than willing to help us. She even brought her family to the field trips and they were cool too. She is a great lecturer and very helpful in office hours. Her TAs also were cool. They helped us key out algae. Don't take this class with other demanding classes. It is a 6 unit class.
