LS4 wasn't an option but yeah. This is an eval for LS4.

Please don't be put off by Professor Jacobsen's lecturing during the first couple lectures. His lecturing style seems really boring and bland at the beginning but he's actually a fantastic lecturer if you actually sit through class or listen to his podcasts. He's also extremely helpful with any questions people might have after lectures. His class wasn't too difficult and I'd definitely suggest taking Jacobsen/Cohn. Their exams are pretty challenging but nothing was really unreasonable. I'd definitely suggest taking them over Siu. Siu is a fantastic lecturer but his exams personally seemed harder than Jacobsen/Cohn's.

LS4
Cohn and jacobsen are good, likeable lecturers. They teach well and are understandable. but at the end of the day the ta's write the exams and most of the problems either have nothing to do with what the professors put up on their lectures or are twice as long and twice as hard compared to other professors. And since its the grade that counts and not how much you like the professor, I recommend you stay away. Even professors like Pang have higher averages. Stay far far away.

Jacobsen is a good guy. Good teacher and really friendly. His midterms are in between easy and hard, but don't screw up because the rest of class won't. Try to do all the problem possible and understand them. His final is comprehensive and conceptual, so make sure you have all the concepts in mind when doing his tests.

Professor Jacobsen is a GREAT lecturer. He explains everything so well and clear, it's impossible to not understand the point he's making. I would recommend him for future students taking genetics. I had LS4 taught by him and Merriam... they're such great teachers.
and the exams were reasonable too.

Prof Jacobsen was great for LS 4. He explains concepts clearly and can be an entertaining lecturer. His tests are doable, just be sure to do the majority of the homework problems and you should be fine. Know the reader well and the concepts behind the experiments. He is a very fair professor.

Also took LS 4 with Jacobsen. Great professor! Clear lectures, interesting material, and fair tests :) Wish I could take another class with him.

LS4

Jacobsen taught the first three weeks (up until the first midterm) of LS4 and I really liked him. He presented the more basic, introductory concepts for genetics and I think he did a great job of keeping it simple and to the point. He is easy to understand, talks at a nice pace, and has a welcoming personality. Would definitely recommend.

Professor Jacobsen is a good lecturer. He knows his material very well, and he keeps the class somewhat interesting. To do well, you need to be able to do the genetics problems. Don't get behind the weekly assignments even though homework isn't due.

Awesome professor. I was really scared at first and was about to drop the class. I toughed it out, studied hard, and almost got a 100% on his midterm! His tests are not designed to trick you...he tests only what he has taught. Overall, he is a great professor, even if you don't think so at first.
