This was probably the easiest and most interesting classes that I have taken at UCLA. You don't even have to do the readings to do good on the midterm and final. All you have to do is her review sheets and study her lecture notes. Plus, all of the review sheet questions can be done by looking up the answers in the book and finding the answers in the lecture notes. I got an A in this class without putting in much work. Her lectures are also interesting and fun.

I really, really don't understand why Professor Addison gets such bad reviews. I thought her Psych 10 class was awesome, although her lecture material tended to digress sometimes. She shows a lot of videos and doing that eased the pain of having to sit through a two hour lecture. Her midterm and final were multiple choice and pretty easy. The midterm was much easier than the final because the material was easier to understand and there was a lot less to know, so study hard for that one! Also, don't worry about little details in the reading because she tests on general concepts. As long as you recognize the term, you'll do fine. I liked Prof Addison's class so much, I'm actually considering to be a psych major.

Don't know why everyone thinks this class is so hard. You don't even have to go to class, just get the notes on the videos. All you have to do is fill out the review sheets as in-depth as you can, memorize, and you'll do fine on the tests.

Addison seems like a nice enough person although her curve is brutal (I got an 89 on the final which came out to be a 82 with the curve) . Her lectures are way too long and boring despite her efforts to keep them interesting. The readings are way too long. This is not a good class to take if you are trying to decide whether or not to be a Psych major.

Sure, she's a nice teacher...but nice doesn't do the job when you have over 200 students trying to learn psychology for the first time! I didn't think she was effective at all. Her lecture slides were posted online ahead of time (not even the final versions) but she still spoke and moved through the slides WAY too quickly. 2 hour lectures (2x a week) are ridiculously long for this course.. I NEVER fall asleep in classes and still managed to find my head bobbing after the first hour of class!
The 6 experiment credit reqs are a breeze...just make sure to sign up as SOON as you can. I finished 5 in the first 2 weeks and that helped me devote my time to the readings.
The readings were sometimes fun, kinda interesting, and but at most times just seriously just WAY tooooo long. There is just too much material covered all at once and doing well in the class (midterm 45%, final 55%) is based mostly on how well you can memorize. Take this class if you have to.... but I don't completely recommend it. The curve is HORRIBLE...practically none existent, b/c people with prior knowledge in psych ace the tests... beware of Psych 10 with addison!

Addison was a great lecturer. She is enthusiastic about the subject, and makes her lectures interesting by reading short stories, telling jokes, and showing video clips. I actually enjoyed going to lecture, despite it being 2 hours long. Although the class was great, I dislike how the grading is done. 45% midterm, and 55% final. Her tests are a bit tricky. I did all the reading, attended every lecture, and did all the review sheets. I really knew the material. However, I ended up with a C in the class. I think the questions on her tests were a bit tricky, or maybe its just me. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this class.

I think Professor Addison is a great professor because her lectures are very interesting and you are always focused on what she is saying because evrything that she lectures on is very interesting and somehow it relates to real life. Her class made me better understand certain psychological disorders that occur to people. Her class is entertaining because she does all types of demonstrations and experiments in which the class participates in. the videos presented in class are entertaining. Regarding her tests there tends to be a lot of the material from the book that she doesn't always discuss during her lectures. My advice is to keep up with the readings and take advantage of those study hints that she posts on the clas website because about 80% of the material on those study hints tend to be on midterm and final. OVERALL PROFESSOR ADDISON IS A GREAT PROFESSOR AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!!

I took her class Winter of 2003. She mentioned that she had refined a lot of her lectures and style of teaching - after reading these reviews, it is very evident that she did so. Her lectures were extremely interesting and very well organized. She was very well-spoken, and knew the material very well. She sounded much more intelligent than a lot of the older professors I've had, which was very surprising, and definitely very refreshing. She is very concerned about students understanding the material and doing well on the exams; she provides study guides for each chapter so you can do well on the midterm and final. She is also very sweet and reminded us to eat healthy and get a lot of sleep during exams instead of just drinking coffee (I thought that was nice). This young lady has her shit together, and is honestly one of the best professors I've had at UCLA. It is possible to get an A, however I only received a B+, because to me, it was a lot of information to remember (like all introductory classes). I don't know why the others were complaining - maybe she wasn't as good then as she is now, but I definitely recommend her for Psych10, and I'm hoping to take other classes with her in the future. Yay for Professor Addison! :)

The ratings are down-right HARSH! I think Prof. Addison was an engaging teacher. Her lectures were interesting. I never missed a lecture. Her midterm and final are a little bit confusing but rather fair. Please ignore the numerical ratings and focus on the written ones. You will enjoy her class.
