Among the worst TAs i've had at UCLA. I changed my major to poli sci because of him.

ENGL 118 Submitted June 11, 2002 Grade Received: N/A

Hands down the hardest and least just grader I've ever had. I don't know anyone who got higher than a B- on any of the essays, and he tends to assign fairly general topics, then hammers you on specifics he never even mentioned needing to be included. I'm normally an A to B+ student, and it looks like I'm getting a C this quarter, and I worked my ass off for that C. I question the value of several of the films he shows, and his insistance of taking up the entire 3 hours just to lecture can become almost unbearable. He is funny and fairly interesting during the lectures (for the first 2 hours at least) but he is just unbelivably tough on grades.

I had David for English 4 about four years ago. He might have changed but I remember him as an awesome TA, who paid a lot of attention to student work and also had a great sense of humor. David's class encouraged my choice to become an English major. He was one of my favorite TA's and I'm not sure why he has received so much negative criticism.

worse professor i've had at ucla

The class started out fine in terms of choice of films and their respective book versions. However, the second half of the quarter was terrible due to the poor choice of materials. Also, the class was strained because the teacher would insist on using the whole three hours even when there was no movie watch. He would lecture the whole time, not speaking anything of substance. He would also berate the class for not being able to pay rapt attention to his "lectures." His heart was in the right place, but I don't feel that he knew how to conduct a class.
