I have taken two classes with McCloskey and without a doubt I believe that he is the smartest and best professor I have had at UCLA. Military Science classes are notoriously easy, but I learned more in his classes than any other I have taken, plus the material is interesting. Everything from the guest lecturers from the FBI and Secret Service to the in-class presentations of the countries that pose the biggest threats to the United States have made me more aware of life outside our sheltered world. It would be a HUGE mistake to leave UCLA without taking a class with him

I'm taking my second military science class with him and he's pretty good. The class is really easy and you don't have to study much at all. Lecture can be boring one week and interesting the next, it just depends on the material.

Not a bad class, not hard and some interesting stuff was talked about. Major McCloskey is a little dry in his presentation, he was an intelligence officer in the Army so I guess being extroverted wasn't a strong requirement for him. He's a great Prof though and really easy going. Take his class.

This guy ROCKS! Don't graduate without taking this guy. He is the best professor I have taken. Before taking this class I didn't care about military science and bombing other countries. But now I know what is going on in the world around us. McCloskey has the best power point lectures and he even puts his notes on the internet for his students to download. He didn't even require any books for class. The best lecture was once when the major's father came to class and lectured us on joining the army. I now don't think of army soldiers as second class citizens thanks to Major McCloskey..

During the first meeting of this class i told myself that this was going to be a waste of time but staying in the class was the smartest decision i ever made. I thought that my grade was low after not showing up to class half the time because 10:00 am is too early for me. i studied for the final for about 30 minutes before. My final grade was prob the lowest in the class an
A- but im happy. McCloskey RULES.

At Ease\326 The Major is talking!! Okay, I just wanted to do that. Anyhow, Major McCloskey\355s class is definitely worth taking if you need the units, and if want to learn some interesting stuff. He is really laid back and the class is definitely easy. The Major teaches through a power point presentation and even post the notes on the Internet. His class is a practical one, especially during these times. In addition, is there anything this guy does not know? Each student is required to do a current event briefing in his class, and I swear Major McCloskey knew more then every student who gave a presentation. Harvard know it all. A definite GPA booster as well, which is always a plus. DISMISSED SOLDIER!!!!
