Monthly Rent: $4271 - $4271
Just don't live here. Unless you want to shell out $800/mo + utilities to share a room no bigger than the dorms, and listen to heavy drum& bass at 2am some other students play on their balcony that's facing the inside of the building. The management is a mess. They're usually friendly but no one knows what they are doing except for accepting rent. The pool and laundry are rarely cleaned.
What's more, they charge you all utilities. And they don't just let us sign up for LADWP power/water and gas from the gas co; you sign up for utilities through their reseller and pay a cranked-up rate for everything. They do provide free internet, but in a building of hundreds of students it takes 5 minutes to send an email. If you ever want to opt to pay for your own internet, the property has an agreement with Verizon that you have to use their DSL service, which cost the most and you have to get a phone line too. No cable internet. Also this place is very unsafe, for unknown reasons. The hallways are frequently vandalized. Heck, even INSIDE my apartment my stuff got vandalized. Some people just randomly walk into other people's rooms and start smashing stuff. Worst is the lock that come on your door won't lock itself. You'll have to pull out your key to deadbolt it, or when you're doing some laundry, leave it open for everyone in the building. At not that much cheaper than the dorms and comparable living conditions, (not to mention no food), it's better to live anywhere else.
Living in Midvale Plaza was not a good decision in any sense. Their rent is exorbitantly expensive and for no good reason. The girl who works at the front desk has little idea of what she's doing and is unhelpful when questions were asked. I could've found a much cheaper apartment that was bigger and with better security and parking services. They also charged an unbelievable amount off of our deposit when we went out of our way to have the apartment cleaned.
Lastly, the jaccuzzi/pool is rarely cleaned. It is frankly too expensive for college apartment living and too strict when you have people over.
