Monthly Rent: $4000 - $4500
Living at 545 Glenrock over the last year has been such an awful experience I don't even know where to start. First, the rooms are tiny and never meant for more than one person, and being charged the so called "market rate" of over $1100 a bed given the state of the property and units is downright insulting. The building is falling apart. Fixtures rusting, water-damaged cabinets, a major flood in November of 2024, termite damage, dirty outdoor grounds, the list could go on. There are no amenities, unless you include the souvenir nails and screws you can pickup that fall from the construction site next door.
The most significant travesty of this year was the flood of last November. A formal complaint was made to the LA housing department since maintenance failed to address and fix a leaking pipe, so when the pipe finally burst and flooded many units, there was no question as to what led to it happening. Management failed to address a significant pipe issue that led to the flood. Management had no issue denying any wrongdoing. Further, management tried to move everyone back into those flooded units the same day after a quick sweep! Imagine water dripping out of power sockets, circuit breakers, and pooling under your oven and being told, 'We cleaned up so you'll be fine tonight.' For over $4000 a month?? Are you kidding?
It is understood that this is Westwood, home to the slumlords of Los Angeles, but 545 glenrock takes that to another level. These units are worth nowhere near what Riviera is charging, and would be max $1500 total in any just society. Looking for apartments is super stressful and that stress of searching all over the place for units is what made me originally sign a lease here. Be careful with where you choose to live and for the love of God do not live here.
Baddies, do NOT LIVE HERE!! Like actually it's so bad and Diana makes it worse fr. Look I know the rent seems nice and parking but the stress of living here is not worth it. The building needs to be shut down and seriously renovated. Some tenants have holes in their walls, others have flooding issues and the maintenance makes every single girl in the building uncomfy (some units have roaches and water damage). They come in unannounced leave toilet seats up and track dirt everywhere, they give little to NO HEADS UP on tours, maintenance, and disruptions. Literally, our apartment FLOODED at the fault of them (as did many others) and very few people were reimbursed for the damage and they failed to do anything about the MOLD. ITS EVERYWHERE AND F**K Jennifer and Diana of Riveria Mangemnt they suck. DONT LIVE HERE DEADASS RATHER LIVE IN A TRIPLE IN THE DORMS
Avoid this apartment complex. Have had countless issues, including apartment flooding (management had prior knowledge that a leak was impending yet did not prevent), SO much black and pink mold in bathroom, etc. My main issue has been feeling very uncomfortable with maintenance often entering in and out of the apartment without ANY notice and for reasons unknown to us. When we complained, the answer was along the lines of ‘yeah, almost all of our female tenants have complained feeling uncomfortable but they (maintenance people) don’t listen so there’s not much we can do’. Not to mention 3 tours a week with barely any notice if you choose not to renew your lease. Overall, AVOID
Don't live here. Biggest scam in Westwood. Flooding, rotting windows, roaches, mold, the list goes on. Landlady and management are the worst I've ever experienced. Not to mention the rent is insane given the lack of timely maintenance and state of the units. Just walk around the back of the building or go on a tour and you'll know what I mean. The ultimate "college landlord special."
Landlady loves to cite "age" of building for the state of disrepair. Don't fall for it. Run. Save yourself the headache and avoid Riviera properties in Westwood. I wish I could have done so myself.
Do not live here.
The landlord is a slum lord, and wayyyyy overcharges for rent. The rent will be increasing to 3600 moving forward. My apt had two rooms. One room was advertised as a double but could only fit two beds if one was underneath the other. For the high rent, it is not worth it. I paid 872.50 to sleep with half my body underneath my roommate's bed.
Only utility provided is water. Many appliances required maintenance.
Landlord, Heewon, is pretty non-existent. Dodges calls, takes a while to reply regarding maintenance issues. She also does not lock the building. When I lived here, multiple cars in the garage got broken into, including mine. The laundry machines are also broken a lot. They were once broken for over a month straight.
My advice is to go somewhere. You don't need to pay $900 a person for this shithole, go somewhere nicer for that amount of money, like Atrium or Midvale Plaza.
