The neighbors are absolutely terrible. I'm not sure if it was just because of the summer, but the units to both sides and the top, as well as the building across the street would host parties and play music. Between all 4, music was playing about 12 hours a day, constant stomping. It didn't matter what day of the week it was. The earliest one started was 9am, but average 11am for the first beat. You WILL NOT get sleep here!! The apartment is incredibly cheap. Cabinets are fixed to the wall wrong, so there's just a thick layer of paint to attempt to cover up the fact it's crooked on the wall. There's no ventilation in the bathroom (the regular fan would work occasionally then the other is hot coil powered and just made the apartment hot and humid if used) so mold would form even in the toilet bowl. The AC unit is sketch and sometimes would trip the circuits of other outlets and it was placed in the most inconvenient place.....you can only open the fridge half way. For this price, you could at least get a 1B1B a little bit farther away from campus, still walking or biking distance for even cheaper. 2 people would be the max to live in the unit, and 3 people is absolutely miserable. Please don't give these people rent. Also, if you look at the elevator permits, they're very much out of date. I'm surprised the fire equipment is within its inspection time. At lease I know this tinderbox apartment can be put out of flames quickly...
It's okay, maybe for one or two people maximum. The ventilation is poor however so stay away if you have allergies. The roof leaks in some floors, but for the most part the price is what makes this place liveable. We had some parties here, just make sure if you live here that you get an air cleaner and one or two good strong fans to circulate air, because theres only one window (balcony) and the shower/bathroom is at the other end of the units which are shaped like long rectangles.
Don't sign a lease with this apartment!!!
In March my roommates and I visited this apartment hoping to get a one bedroom for the next fall. We were shown a decent looking room so we decided to settle and fill out an application. The manager demanded we turn in a $600 room reservation fee plus a $30/person application fee when we turned in the application because she would "guarantee" we got a room or we could get our money back. First red flag. Fast forward to mid July, she calls us up and tells us we have a room reserved for us and we can move in Sept. 20th. She did not mention anything about signing a lease or turning in a deposit so being dumb first time renters we didn't think too much of it, so we figured we would sign the lease the 20th.
In end of August, one of my roommates decided to call because he needed to change the move in date. The manager told him we apparently needed to sign the lease weeks ago and now we wouldn't be able to move into the apartment till Oct. 1st after 1st week. We go to the office and she says she'll do us a favor (wtf?) by letting us move in Sept 15th into a studio and then move us to the one bedroom. However, she still wants to charge the same rate for the studio as she would charge for a one bedroom even though the studio is much smaller and we would have to figure out switching the electricity and gas on our own. We pulled out of the lease at that point and the manager assured me we would get our money back the next business day. I showed up during the time period she said to come but no one was there. I waited an hour and no one showed up.
