Climate Change: From Puzzles to Policy
Fall 2018 - Don't believe these reviews. The only accurate thing they said was about a curve. Even then, this class is terrible. The professor is nice but is useless when it comes to receiving help. My TA is horrible- snobby and is not at all helpful when it comes to providing help. I decided to ask the professor for help because the TA was a waste of time and the professor was super vague and not helpful at all. The assignments are extremely difficult and have NOTHING to do with the lectures. They DO involve a lot of math and the wording is too damn confusing. The professor and the TA themselves tend to send an email clarifying for every assignment. The labs are worse. They are confusing and not clear at all. The mid-term was the exact same thing- it made no sense and the TA's told us to focus on the wrong things and to memorize stuff that was not even on the exam. Overall, a huge waste of time and this class will most likely bring down my GPA. The worst GE I have taken in my 2 years at UCLA!!
definitely recommend brix! :) he lets you use a cheat sheet, and as long as you follow through his slides which are super organized, you can do well in both the midterm and final. i think his midterm and finals are fair, not the typical regurgitation kind of paper, but more of conceptual understanding (since you have a cheat sheet for that). he's really approachable and nice! do take him over the other profs! :):):) for someone who doesn't like science, it is actually very logical and easy to follow! SO TAKE IT NOW! :)
Professor Hall is VERY enthusiastic about what he does. I found lecture to be very interesting! There is no textbook, which is a plus. But that also means that you will have to study the slides for the tests. I would highly suggest taking the lab component with him and getting it out of the way, because I found it to be very easy. Overall, a great class. Take it if you get a chance!
Winter 2022 - This class was not what I expected to be, but the only reson I survived it was because my TA Paige. I've never met anyone so willing to help even when I didn't understand basic concepts. This quarter threw me off because we did have a professor for a bit then switched to pre-recorded lectures. They weren't as engaging as in person, and the audio situation on the videos wasn't the best. Also the tests correlated better when we had an live lecturer. Paige is really helpful during disscussion though, and is happy to answer questions and break down any concepts you need. Her office hours are even better if you want more of a one on one environment. Regardless of how my G.P.A. suffered, my expirence in this class was a little more enjoyable becuase of Paige.
