Brix is such a cool professor, I'm a IDS major and I hate science but I actually got a good grade in this class thanks to his teaching. His lectures are great, pod cast, slides online, and he's very approachable. He has a way of teaching things in a way anyone can understand, and doesn't make you feel dumb if it takes you awhile. My TA wasn't the greatest mostly just because he was shy and a bad public speaker, but Brix even came to one of my sections so he was always there to ask. His grading is fair and you can take a sheet of whatever you want into the final! Take him!

Winter 2019 - Class cover climate and climate modeling basics. Should be stated that while you learn about climate and climate models you never actual make models or simulations. Her presentations can be confusing but you can tell she is trying her best. The textbook is extremely helpful and can be found for free online. Had about 5 homework assignment that made up 30% of the final grade. Assigned on Monday and due Friday. She allows cheat sheets on exams. One midterm exam. While the class can be dry at times I think it covers some fundamental topics that are useful if you are considering taking more climate science based classes.

Spring 2025 - This professor is the nicest one I've met on campus. He really loves teaching and could talk about this class all day (in a good way). I'm not an A&O major, but he explained everything really well and is always welcoming and understanding of the student's situation as long as you communicate. Classes were not mandatory, but I'd suggest going to them at least to listen and feel the vibe since he only provides the slides on canvas (only provides recording if there is an excused absence). His midterm and final allowed notes, but they are in a short answer format, so it is important to understand concepts! Love this professor and would take again if I was an A&O major.
