Research in Black Life, Institutions, and Culture II

Description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Limited to students enrolled in Bunche fellows research program. Continuation of interdisciplinary overview of Black studies research perspectives and research methods. Survey of Black studies research perspectives, methods, and findings. Covers voluminous, complex materials in relatively short period of time. Extensive reading, critically analysis of materials, and application of what is learned in research projects. Students are expected to present thoughtful, detailed, creative critical analyses of texts and ideas in both written and oral communication. Students share and present drafts from ongoing research projects as they incorporate constructive feedback. Collaborative group work and participation in a shared, supportive learning community. P/NP or letter grading.
