Winter 2025 - ****REVIEW IS FOR ANTHRO 135S: SEX, RACE, AND GENDER IN TRANSNATIONAL FILM Professor Mankekar is very sweet and honestly cares more about her students’ well-being than their learning, which makes the class very low stakes. There are 4 assigned papers that are 6-8 pages each throughout the quarter, but you only need to complete 3. The TAs begin with grading very easily, but become harder graders as the course progresses. There is a group project/presentation in lecture in which you and some students from your section present on one of the films from class, which only takes 10ish minutes. Lectures are recorded and attendance is not mandatory. Section participation is mandatory, and you will go over assigned films/readings during discussion. You do not need to watch and read everything, but at least have a general understanding of the movie and read the abstract of each article. If you are going to write and essay on the film, actually watch it and the associated lecturers while also engaging with the readings (lectures will inform you how to do so properly).
