Description: Lecture, three hours. Requisite: course 122A. Exploration of rise of film in Pacific Islands during 20th century, with attention to politics of gender, history, and representation, to engage students in textual and visual readings of feature-length films about Pacific. Discussions, film screenings, and guest speakers, with focus on aesthetic, cultural, economic, gendered, historical, and political dimensions of films. P/NP or letter grading.
