John is great. His class is a recommended class for anyone who's 1. serious about the major 2. interested in getting involved in the community doing grassroots work 3. someone looking for an internship but is having trouble finding one or 4. someone who is looking to develop their leadership skills for campus leadership. In terms of courseload, it's practical and he knows we're students so we can slide with a lot. Most of this class, however, is focused on our growth as a leader and he brings valid points and examples on our determination. His lectures are interesting and very applicable to anyone trying to connect academics to activism. He approaches students very well and isn't too intimidating. All he asks for is some transparency. If you have an honest reason not to show, he'll let you slide. And by honest reason, I mean he understands if you got caught up in a meeting or anything like that. His assignments are interesting, too. We've done our own personal stories and also responded to blog posts. Chill assignments to get us thinking.
