Coastal Engineering

Description: Lecture, four hours; discussion, two hours; outside study, six hours. Requisites: course 151 and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering 103. Covers coastal water levels (tides, climate variability, storms, sea level rise, resonance), surface gravity waves (characteristics, transformation, spectra), coastal processes (overtopping, erosion, flooding), coastal protection (walls, nourishment, dunes, berms, nature-based infrastructure), coastal modeling. Concurrently scheduled with course C158. Letter grading.
