Winter 2025 - An amazing professor who genuinely cares about her students (the protests were going on during this time and was understanding) and the information she teaches. She breaks things down to simple concepts, doesn't give busy work, and truly wants people to learn about Chicanx studies. While her lectures were not mandatory, they were nice to listen to as you can also hear from other students' experiences of how societal standards effect them. I genuinely learned a lot and was not burdened by a lot of work that would influence my major classes. Would take her again! Also, discussions were chill, just review the articles and you should be good.

Fall 2024 - this class was an easy A, like the other review on here said, hw consisted of (i think) 500 word reflections based on the readings (readings were pretty long at first but get shorter over the quarter), midterm felt like an ap exam, we had to write a timed essay which were based off of any of the prompts she assigned. the final was just an annotated bibliography based off of the topic you choose for yourself, no essay/paper needed, just the bibliography & annotations. she was super sweet and made the class very engaging. if you took an ethnic studies class in high school, it shouldn't be hard at all. I would definitely recommend! ALSO, the class is only about Central America, she never talked about Chicanos.

Winter 2024 - Okay, I felt that Professor was trying too many new things and it got really confusing. The TAs were literally the saving grace of the class, they were kind and taught all the material. I hated that classes were not recorded, they were so late in the day and the guest lectures were literally on zoom. My main issue was her changing the grading scale on the midterm. After our midterms were graded, she changed it so everyone got a whole grade not +-. So although great for people who got A- , it brought the grades down of us who got B+ or A+. TAs were pissed about it too since they were the actual ones doing all the work. I thought the content was interesting but we did not even really learn content it was just QA every lecture. I also hated how the midterm and final were set up since we only had 2 pages double space to write about 4 weeks of content. I just felt the professor really was trying to make the class a staple class and it just really fell through. Its okay for a GE to be simple. Most students get into a major or minor from the simple GEs.
