Inorganic Reaction Mechanisms

Description: Lecture, three hours. Requisites: courses 110A, 110B, 113A, and 172, with grades of C- or better. Survey of inorganic reactions; mechanistic principles; electronic structure of metal ions; transition-metal coordination chemistry; inner- and outer-sphere and chelate complexes; substitution, isomerization, and racemization reactions; stereochemistry; oxidation/reduction, free/radical, polymerization, and photochemical reactions of inorganic species. May be concurrently scheduled with course C175. S/U or letter grading.
