Description: Lecture, four hours. Analysis of dynamics of Chicana/Chicano transnational community formation in comparative global perspective, explored both as historical result of and key future actor in localized dynamics of transnationalization in California's relation to world. Analysis of Chicana/Chicano experience in California as both highly linked node and localized microcosm of dynamics of globalization that is both affected by as well as influences course of alternative scenarios of globalization. Designed to help students develop critical political economy analysis of interplay between globalization and localized transnational dynamics that together are giving meaning to and constructing new social identities and strategies for struggle throughout world. P/NP or letter grading.
