Took Chinese 110A and 110B with Chen. He is a very articulate professor and keeps the topics fairly interesting. His quizzes and exams are pretty straight forward and he tests exactly whats from the text. Go to class, listen to the translations and take notes, study them, and you will get a pretty decent grade. He also drops your lowest quiz grade so pretty cool. I ended with B+ and A- respectively.

Fall 2021 - Professor Duthie is a very well prepared, well research professor and make this class a pleasure to take. The class itself is not hard. The class surrounds around the translations that are done for every class. Participation does matter but as long as you prepare the translations for the class you will be fine. There are three exams throughout the class and all of them are based on the information covered in the chapters preceding the exam. Overall, this class is easy and interesting to take. Professor Duthie is a pleasure to learn from.

Strassberg tries to make teaching 110A as simple as possible. He goes over grammar rules and the chapters and the rest is really up to the students. I guess EFFORT is the key to staying afloat in this class. Strassberg welcomes any and all questions and of course is helpful and overall just a great and genuinely nice man. Personally, I found the TA sections to be extremely useless and it was just a bad utilization of time. Again, just put in some effort into knowing the grammar patterns and you should be fine.
