Description: Lecture, four hours. Recommended preparation: background in Islamic or Middle Eastern studies. Requisite: course 200 or 231 or 434A. Current health issues and problems of countries in Middle East and implications for socioeconomic development. Review of economic, demographic, and cultural variation of region to provide background for discussion of trends and patterns of health and nutritional status of population in area. Letter grading.
