She is pretty intimidating at first which makes you want to drop the class immediately. She has a very different style of lecturing that is very slow, dramatic, and tends to digress a lot. If you stick with her though, you'll realize that she's not as bad as she seems - kind of cute and funny actually. Especially with this class where she only is there for you to learn, she will answer any of your questions about actual careers that are available to Comm majors. She seems to have connections everywhere and knows just about everyone or at least can name almost every noteable person in the field. This class helped me a TON to know more real-life knowledge about careers as a TV and movie producer, agent, writer, and manager. Also, since she knows a lot of people, she has a lot of hookups to internships in any field that you can want. Take the class and actually show up because it's worth your while!

Fall 2021 - This class is so so so so so important - I think every Junior/Senior needs to take this class at least once. The class is very easy. It's listed as a 3 hour class but Peterson would usually end class after an hour. You can choose your assignments based on a list of topics he gives, and some of the topics give you the chance to reflect on your internship. There's a 5-8 page paper at the end of the quarter, but all you really need to do is reflect on your internship & what you've learned. This class is meant to HELP you! Most classes brought in guest lectures from industries like entertainment, government, marketing, and more! I am still in contact with one of the guest lecturers, and she's been so helpful! So, this class is a GREAT way to network! Peterson is awesome. He would share interesting stories during class, and he would give us AMAZING advice on careers, internships, networking, interviews, resumes, etc. All of the topics he goes over are crucial for every student to know before graduating. He's also very helpful outside of class too, just send him an email or ask to set up a meeting. He responds to emails in a timely manner! He will even look at your resume and offer feedback - just ask! This class prepares you for the real world. Not many other classes do that. Make good use out of your time at UCLA and take this class - you need it and you will be happy you took it. Don't think twice just enroll! Trust me!
