I think future students should attend this professor's class because he has interesting things to say, but NEVER take his class. He is so incredibly disorganized that he confuses himself in the middle of lecture, in mid sentence, in mid graph. There are many people who didn't comment like I have, and I wish they would so that the entire campus can see how horrible a teacher he really is. today in lecture he talked about how minorities should be paid low wages, and it's right because the wage is reflectant of how undesirable they are. I'm not saying Thompson is racist, I'm just saying he doesn't think about the things he say at all. If he spent even 2 seconds thinking and planning his lecture, he wouldn't have the issue he is having. He is ALWAYS late to class. And he jumps around in lecture a lot... "Lets talk about this... [mid lecture] oh no wait... no no no... let's go back to ..... [mid lecture] oh wait... forget about what I just told you... this is what I was really trying to... Oh no... we're out of time..." and is a sentence summation of what it's like to be in one of his classes. He bears an uncanny resemblance to Abe Lincoln... I wonder if his outcome is to be the same... but seriously... all this jumping around and his pulling shit straight out of his ass with no introduction at all is enough to drive you mad! I know at this point there are many of you guys who think... "This guy is obviously biased. No way can he be this bad when there are a couple of good reviews and comments on him..." Well boys... For one, this is 2005, and this is the entry that reflected how he was in 2005. I'm not sure how he was in 2004, but obviously the 2005 version of him isn't a match. And secondly, just check the histogram mode and see how many many people rated him poorly. And you'll find out that he's one of the most horrible professors here at UCLA. And on top of his disorganization, he doesn't care about his students. He doesn't care if they learn his subject or not... He doesn't care if the things he taught were contradictory and that the answer on the midterm could be argued either way... simply put, he doesn't care. It's better to be short on units, get put on ECP, than to attend this class. You don't learn a lot, and you endanger your grade.
