Fall 2019 - Interesting class, wrong professor to take it with. Most kids are IB kids so they know what they're talking about. This means averages are way higher for hard tests and it does not help that expectations on the tests arent discussed. Avoid taking it with her. She seems nice but is not the best professor

I've never written a review for a professor before, but I liked Professor Sproul's class so much, I feel compelled to write something. I've graduated with an econ degree and this class is the only econ class that I feel like I actually learned something worthwhile and applicable to the real world. His quizzes are a little tricky, but if you go to class and really listen to his lectures, you'll be fine. His lectures are interesting enough to make you actually want to go to class. I ended up with a B - not the greatest, but I worked hard for it (and I usually do really poorly in econ classes). He's very fair and really wants to help students learn...I actually retained useful information from this class. I highly recommend this professor!!

During the summer session term C, both of us (German exchange students) took Econ 160, Money and Banking. Unlike some of the other ratings, we would highly recommend people to take this class. It is rewarding and inspiring in so far that you really get a very humorous insight in American politics as well as FED monetary policy. If you are able to handle Mr. Swanson's undoubtely strong love for ironic remarks, you should not miss the course! The material itself is not that hard as well as the difficulty level.

i havent finished this class yet, but it's enrollment time and i want to do prof. thompson justice. he appears to be unorganized, but he works hard and teaches us from his research. his lectures can be confusing because he's teaching against the conventional theories. but if you go to his office hours, you will see that he is VERY nice, he will spend extra time to teach you. he encourages econ students not to be passive -- really understand what you are learning and see if what you learn is true. he has only been late (a few minutes) to class twice this quarter. it's because students were asking him questions in his office, and he wanted to make sure that they get their questions answered. some students in the class always complain about him, but they never put the effort into understanding the materials. i also feel that his midterm was fair. from all the econ classes that i have taken at ucla, they all require just memorizations, which made me kind of sick. but prof. thompson's class is so different. you actually have to understand stuff. i recommend him for any classes he's teaching. he's the best eva
