Instructional Apprenticeship in Teaching and Learning at UCLA Partner Schools

Description: Tutorial, 10 hours. Limited to juniors/seniors. Introduction to K-12 teaching profession through training and supervised off-campus experiences at UCLA partner schools (Nora Sterry Elementary School, Brockton Elementary School, Emerson Middle School, University High School, UCLA Community School, or other LAUSD schools coordinated by students). Students gain grounded understanding of social issues in education through readings, observations, direct support in classrooms, and tutoring activities. Individual meetings with faculty mentor throughout term. May be repeated for credit. Individual contract required. Letter grading.
