Description: Lecture, four hours. Requisite: proficiency demonstrated on English as a Second Language Placement Examination (enforced) or course 1B (C or better). Development of academic writing skills with focus on writing process, grammatical structures key to clear and effective style, and practice with major forms of academic writing, with additional work on critical analysis of readings. Completion of course with grade of C or better satisfies English as a Second Language requirement. Letter grading.
