Winter 2022 - I loved this class with Christine! I personally found the materials to be engaging- the topics of the essays were based on pop culture, social media, and film. The readings were no more than 10 pages each and twice a week. Each class she showed presentations of different aspects of writing an essay along with a short in-class exercise, and I feel like I vastly improved on my writing skills because of this. Contrary to other reviews, she values a creative, interesting, and condensed essay. After each essay, she would send us back a copy of our essay with very detailed notes. She was very engaging and charismatic; overall, making the class more fun.

Fall 2015 - Professor Brennan is amazing. She was incredibly kind and funny. I actually became a better writer in her class, and the course work was easy but not boring. For English Comp 3 take this class. It was a great way to start my freshman year and I made some good friends, became a better writer, and got a good grade.

You're very lucky if you can get into this class since so many people want her. She is always available via email and willing to help you with your papers. Office hours is a must, and she's very approachable. Maija even brings her students treats! Today we got Diddy Riese cookies! She writes all over your papers - at first it was intimidating but after going to office hours, getting an A was highly possible.

Spring 2022 - This class has been my favorite at UCLA so far! The professor was super easygoing, understanding, and explained the material well. The topics we explored were super interesting and the teacher gave really thoughtful feedback on our rough drafts which was super helpful when it came to writing our final drafts. 10/10 would recommend this class and the professor!
