Description: Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Enforced requisites: courses 10A, 10B. Consideration of poetry across genres and throughout period. Topics may include rise of satire, verse forms including Pindaric ode, mock-epic, and verse-epistle, questions of literary imitation and originality, poetry's relationship to empire, and gendering of authorship. May be repeated for credit with topic or instructor change. P/NP or letter grading.
