Description: Lecture, three hours. Study of major figures and ideas in modern and contemporary critical theory. Readings vary from year to year but may include such figures as Freud, Durkheim, Saussure, Heidegger, Shkolvskii, Benjamin, Adorno, Levi-Strauss, Lacan, Barthes, Derrida, Deleuze, Fanon, Foucault, Irigaray, Lyotard, Bourdieu, and Bhabha. S/U or letter grading.
