Planetary Origins and Evolution

Description: Lecture, four hours. Designed for graduate students who are interested in origins of planetary systems and history of solar system. Open to advanced undergraduate students with consent of instructor. Provides background needed to understand and/or participate in research related to formation and evolution of solar system and of other planetary systems. Description of star/planet formation process and subsequent evolution of planetary systems by integrating observations and theory. Fosters interdisciplinary knowledge and communication between Departments of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences and Physics and Astronomy graduate students and faculty members. S/U or letter grading.
