Description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, three hours. Requisites: course 51, Chemistry 110B. Principles governing homogeneous and heterogeneous equilibria, with selected applications to mineral stability relations in igneous and metamorphic rocks (fractional crystallization, partial melting, hydrothermal solutions, element partitioning in coexisting phases). S/U or letter grading.
