Freshman Symposium
Description: Laboratory, three hours. Course 1A is enforced requisite to 1B, which is enforced requisite to 1C. Limited to Film and Television majors. Structured forum in which freshmen meet on regular basis to discuss curricular issues, meet with faculty members from department, and have exposure to array of guest speakers from media industries. Letter grading.

Fall 2026 - Literally my favorite class! As a film major, this class is required, but it's so great because it's only your cohort. Prof. Bill is so kind, and he always tells us stories about his wife, Pamela, which I always enjoy hearing. This class is held in Soundstage 3, which is also so cool because it's just a cozy room, and Prof. always has music playing before class starts. The only assignments we had were reading a chapter from Letters to an Artist each week, and the book is very helpful and interesting. In class, we discuss any key points we took away from our reading, and Prof. Bill also likes us to share any challenges, highlights, or needs we have. Great class :)
