Going into this class, I thought I would be able to practice talking in French with other francophones (since it's already hard to practice it in California). But not really. Instead Jansma mostly surveyed cross-cultural interaction, depending mostly on group interactions, mini-presentations, and a final project for that oral practice. As much as it seems you get to talk a lot in this class, it really depends. She picks the same people, who always talk, and pretty much, the most you'll talk in this class if you don't participate is a 15 minute presentation on an article and a 10 or so minute long final presentation. I just feel that had she been more organised and more thorough with her curriculum, which was all over the place, her students would be going out of the class more confident with their speaking proficiency in French. Also, watch out for her "quizzes" that were pretty much midterms.
