Description: Lecture, three hours; reading period, one hour. Designed for juniors/seniors. Examination of debate about environmental change and ability of planet to maintain growing population. Introduction and evaluation of basic demographic processes in context of food production, energy use, and environmental degradation. Discussion of major debates about use of resources in context of increasing population in developing countries and decreasing population in Western countries. P/NP or letter grading.
