Social, economic, political, and cultural history of Britain from Hanovarian revolution in politics to advent of mass democracy in mid-Victorian era. Themes include social change under pressure of industrialization, emergence of first British Empire, loss of America, shifts in religious and social position. P/NP or letter grading.
