Fall 2024 - This class is so great! We went to YRL Special collections to find primary sources -- and wrote essays on passages from those sources. You have pretty much complete control over what you'd like to research (as long as it's in the required time period) and Prof McClendon is very helpful with her comments. The seminar classes in special collections were so interesting, although some weeks were a little boring -- the class focuses more on the process of research and writing than the time period, that's up to you to study in your own time for your paper. If this is the type of capstone you're looking for, I'd highly recommend it.

Professor Myers was one of the best professors I've taken at UCLA. There's no question that he knows almost everything about Medieval Jewish History; even the most unique questions he is able to answer in depth. His lectures were well-organized and interesting, and he is one of the few teachers that lets you ask questions during lecture. I knew very little about Judaism in general when I came into the class, and came away knowledgable and even more interested in the subject. If you're looking for an easy class, don't take Myers--the reading's intense and can be really boring sometimes, the 10-20 page paper was a lot for a history class, and there is no way to BS on the tests. But if you're looking for a class that is interesting, pertinent and fulfilling, with a professor that cares about the student's learning as much as he knows about his material, then Professor Myers is a must.

Winter 2025 - I was intimidated by taking this capstone, but Prof. Nasiali made the class comfortable and engaging from start to end. She showed that she cares about us in and out of the classroom and has been a great guide in conducting research. I highly recommend you take her class!

Professor Stacey is amazing. I took History 191C with him, and enjoyed both the course material and the discussions. The class is basically made up of one presentation which is 30% of the grade, and 15-20 page paper which is 70% of the grade. I thought his grading was fair, not tough at all. Overall, highly recommended professor.
